What does IPL Blue treat?

The IPL Blue Filter targets bacteria under the skin that leads to acne, acne prone skin, and if you have active acne breakout.

How does the IPL Laser work?

IPL uses an intense, visible, broad-spectrum pulse of light for various non-ablative skin procedures. IPL can target several chromophores such as melanin, vascular structures, and collagen resulting in improvement of photographed skin.

What skin types can IPL be used on?

IPL can be used on Skin Types: 1-4

Is there anything I should do before coming in for my treatment?

  • Avoid sun exposure
  • Discontinue retinol products & exfoliants for 1 week
  • Photosensitizing agents such as Doxycycline & Minocycline should be discontinued for 3 days prior to treatment
  • Must be off Accutane for 6 months
  • Anticipate a “social downtime” of 1-3 days due to redness and Hyperpigmented spots

What is the prep process for IPL Blue?

  • Skin must have no makeup or creams/moisturizers
  • Cleanse area with alcohol swab
  • Apply ultrasound/cooling gels to areas to be treated
  • Goggles will be placed on patient eyes

What should I expect after my IPL Blue?

  • Will experience mild sunburn post treatment, but will resolve in a few hours
  • Skin redness is common and can last a few days
  • Pigmented areas may begin to flake after a few days
  • Cold compresses can be helpful for the first 24 hours for redness and sunburn sensation
  • Skin may be sensitive for a few days, use gentle cleanser and do not scrub or exfoliate skin the skin
  • Wait 1 week to restart retinoids
  • Moisturize liberally
  • Makeup can be worn immediately as long as the skin is not broken
  • Avoid the sun & use sun block SPF 30 or greater
  • Sun spots and age spots will darken before they begin to respond & resolve - this is normal and to be expected. DO NOT pick at spots once they begin to dry, they will lift & fall off on their own
  • Retreat every 4-6 weeks
